The US military conducted an airstrike against Islamic State group fighters in northwestern Nigeria last Thursday. No civilian casualties were reported.
In a statement released yesterday, Friday, Abubakar Bawa, spokesperson for Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, confirmed the information, adding that the operation had been a success. According to initial reports, there were no civilian casualties, he continued.
In the same note, the Sokoto State government expressed its firm support for international defense partners in the fight against the rising insurgency in Northwest Nigeria.
