Faced with the heated exchanges between Beninese and Gabonese internet users on social networks, triggered by a controversy involving Beninese traders in Gabon, the government of Benin is calling for calm, restraint and fraternity.
In a statement issued on August 18, 2025, he highlighted the excellent relations between the two nations and the respectful treatment accorded to nationals on both sides. Benin reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Gabon, in a spirit of mutual respect and shared interest.
