Guinée : 10 ans de prison pour tentative de viol sur un bébé de 11 mois
The case, which deeply shocked the Labé prefecture, has reached its judicial conclusion. A young man, identified as Tidiane Diallo, alias Sao, was sentenced to 10 years of criminal imprisonment by the Labé Court of First Instance (TPI) for attempted rape of an 11-month-old infant.
The verdict was delivered on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the end of a particularly tense criminal hearing, during which the accused maintained his denial of the facts.
The events took place on February 20, 2025, in the Pounthioun neighborhood, in the heart of the urban commune of Labé. On that day, a mother, who usually entrusted her baby to Tidiane Diallo, reportedly found her child covered in blood upon her return.
Medical examinations carried out at the Labé regional hospital revealed partial and recent defloration, thus confirming the attempted sexual abuse of the infant.
In court, Tidiane Diallo denied any involvement. The prosecution, for its part, requested a five-year prison sentence, while requesting that the charges be reclassified as rape.
The defense vigorously argued for acquittal, questioning the neutrality of the medical certificate. The defendant's lawyer notably raised the fact that the victim's mother was a member of the medical profession, suggesting that she could have influenced her colleagues' report.
Despite the defense's arguments, the court, presided over by Judge Boubacar 3 Barry, rendered its decision immediately. The defendant was found guilty of attempted rape of an 11-month-old baby and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
This case has rekindled a crucial debate in Guinea on the protection of children and the need to strengthen sanctions against sexual violence, particularly when the victims are minors.
