Guinée-Bissau : Afrikajom Center dénonce une « rupture brutale » de l’ordre constitutionnel
In Guinea-Bissau, as the country awaited the official announcement of the presidential election results on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the military claimed to have seized control of the country, thus announcing the suspension of the electoral process three days after the presidential vote. AfricaJom Center denounced this "brutal" interruption of the electoral process.
In a statement released this Wednesday, the organization said it was "gravely concerned" and expressed its "deep indignation" at what it described as a military drift that calls into question popular sovereignty.
Indeed, according to Afrikajom Center, the intervention of military forces in an ongoing electoral process represents a "threat to democracy, the rule of law, human rights and the stability of the country".
Afrikajom Center calls for an "immediate return to constitutional order" and for the "continuation of the electoral process" in order to proclaim the results and install the president chosen by the ballot box.
The organization led by Alioune Tine also urges "the African and international community to support this swift return to constitutional legality."
Furthermore, Afrikajom Center recommends the opening of a political dialogue between all Bissau-Guinean actors, with the aim of reaching "democratic, transparent, inclusive, just and peaceful" solutions.
