Guinée : une attaque armée fait deux morts dont un ressortissant chinois
A new armed attack has struck the gold-mining prefecture of Siguiri, in the Upper Guinea region. On the evening of Friday, November 14, 2025, heavily armed individuals targeted a mining company located in Sèkè Mansala, a district within the sub-prefecture of Doko, situated approximately 55 kilometers from the city of Siguiri.
According to initial reports from the scene, two people were killed, including a Chinese national employed by the mining company. The attack also left one person injured, reportedly the company's interpreter, who is currently hospitalized in Siguiri.
Despite the efforts of the defense and security forces to combat organized crime, this tragedy once again highlights the persistent insecurity in the region's mining areas. Several gold mining sites, often operated by local and foreign companies, are regularly targeted by violent attacks.
When contacted by telephone, Bakary Koulibaly, president of the Sèkè Mansala district, confirmed the information without providing further details:
"I was informed at dusk that this act had taken place. I went to see the injured man at the hospital; he was their interpreter. I was told that the bodies are at the morgue. That's all I can tell you," he said.
So far, no administrative or security authority has commented on the attack. An investigation is reportedly underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this crime.
This latest tragedy has reignited concerns about security in the Siguiri gold mining area, where armed banditry and tensions surrounding gold mining continue to threaten local stability.
