Journée nationale du Sénégal : Osaka 2025 met à l’honneur le pays de la Téranga

The Osaka 2025 World Expo is honoring Senegal. This was announced by the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who presided over Senegal's National Day on Monday, August 25. The meeting, organized in partnership with the Japanese government, also noted the massive presence of the Japanese and Senegalese private sectors.

Senegal's many opportunities highlighted

As part of the Osaka-Kansai 2025 World Expo, which is being held in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized Senegal Week from August 20 to 25. This major event, under the theme "Senegal, a crossroads of interconnected peoples for sustainable and equitable development," aims to promote the many investment opportunities in the land of Teranga, strengthen Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and promote the dynamism of the national private sector, in perfect alignment with the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda.

The highlight of this week was the holding of Senegal's National Day, which was a wonderful opportunity for the President of the Republic to celebrate the quality of bilateral relations between his country and Japan.

"This city of Osaka, which combines ancient tradition and disruptive innovation, constitutes the ideal setting to celebrate not only this national day but also 65 years of fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation between Senegal and Japan, of which the Senegal-Japan Training Center represents one of the most emblematic achievements," underlined Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

He added: "Our presence in Osaka has a particularly symbolic dimension, as we celebrate 65 years of continuous and fruitful diplomatic relations between Japan and Senegal."

In his speech, the Head of State also presented Senegal's many assets to Japanese investors, emphasizing the key sectors that support the growth dynamic. These include renewable energy, agro-industry, digital technology, and local processing of agricultural products.

President Faye also argued that the general theme of this universal exhibition, namely: "Designing the society of the future, imagining our city of tomorrow", finds a particularly powerful echo in the Senegal 2050 vision. An ambitious societal project that he says he is "building step by step, with the active and informed participation" of all components of the Senegalese nation. "This strategic mission is based on a balance between accelerated economic growth, the rigorous preservation of our fundamental cultural values between the resolute adoption of the most advanced technologies, the seriousness of inclusive growth benefiting all our fellow citizens," he informed.

Finally, Bassirou Diomaye Faye reaffirmed his government's commitment to supporting Japanese investors in a reformed, stable and attractive environment, at the heart of Vision Senegal 2050.

In this dynamic, the Senegalese President invited the Japanese private sector to come and take part in the Invest in Senegal Forum, scheduled for October 7 and 8, 2025, in Dakar, in order to discover the many opportunities offered by the country and build together win-win partnerships for the benefit of shared growth.

"Senegal's participation was fruitful"

The representative of the Emperor of Japan, for his part, maintained that Senegal's participation in this Osaka 2025 Expo was fruitful. "At this year's World Expo, Senegal is showcasing its initiatives in the fields and potential of energy for sustainable and equitable development. We hope that the message it wishes to convey will be heard in Japan and around the world. Senegal's participation in the Osaka Kansai 2025 World Expo is proving fruitful," the Japanese authority revealed.

The Senegal Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 was created under the leadership of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Serigne Guèye Diop, the dedication of the Director General of ASEPEX, Modou Mbène Guèye, with the support of the Senegalese Embassy in Tokyo, as well as the selflessness of the various teams. In this regard, the President of the Republic wished to congratulate them all for their contribution to the organization of Senegal Day and the country's appreciated participation in Expo Osaka 2025.

After the opening ceremony of the day, which took place at the National Day Hall, the Head of State visited the Japanese pavilion and that of Senegal, before signing the guest book.

Pendant que le Sénégal expose... des sculptures en bois à OSAKA "pour conquérir le marché international", le Japon nous présente des robots qui font des impressions en 3D, des systèmes de purification des eaux usées, etc...
