This is news that will certainly not please Benin. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently issued a statement strongly advising its citizens against traveling to this West African country unless absolutely necessary.

"Avoid all travel to Benin, except in cases of absolute necessity."

“Due to the deteriorating security situation in the Republic of Benin, following the attempted coup in December 2025 and the terrorist attacks perpetrated by extremists in the north of the country, local law enforcement agencies are on high alert. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advises its citizens against all travel to Benin, except in cases of absolute necessity,” the statement, relayed by the TASS news agency and RIA Novosti, indicated.

The timing of this statement may seem surprising, given that the attempted coup took place on December 7, 2025. Defense and security forces have been in control for several weeks. Even regarding the jihadist incursions in the north of the country, the Beninese state is doing everything possible to contain this threat.

Le Niger est plus dangereux que le Bénin du point de vue sécuritaire avec les bidasses russes de l'Afrikakorps qui traînent là-bas. Cette déclaration est un aveu sur l'origine du putsch manqué. Les Russes et leurs suppôts de l'AES veulent une voie d'accès vers le Golfe de Guinée en installant un régime fantoche au Bénin.

Malgré tout ce qu'on peut reprocher au Bénin,la sécurité reste et demaure une denrée rare que l'on ne retrouve ni au Mali ,ni au Niger même pas au Burkina Faso.
