Le président Mamadi Doumbouya félicite le Sénégal pour sa victoire à la CAN 2025
The President of the Republic of Guinea, Mamadi Doumbouya, sent a message of congratulations to his Senegalese counterpart, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, following Senegal's victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
Senegal were crowned African champions after the final played on January 18, 2026, in Rabat, Morocco, against the Moroccan national team. The Lions of Teranga won 1-0 thanks to a decisive goal from Pape Gueye, thus claiming their second continental title.
In his message, President Mamadi Doumbouya, newly elected President of the Republic on January 17, 2026, hailed this historic performance by Senegal, which he described as a source of pride for all of West Africa.
“I warmly congratulate the brotherly people of Senegal and their president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, for this great victory which honors the entire African continent. Senegal has once again demonstrated the strength of work, discipline and solidarity,” said the Guinean head of state.
The Senegalese president, who was in Conakry the day before to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Doumbouya, also expressed his gratitude for these congratulations from Guinea, a neighbouring and brotherly country.
This victory of the Lions of Teranga at the 2025 AFCON is being celebrated throughout the West African sub-region, a symbol of unity and success for African football.
