L’UEMOA confie sa présidence au Burkina Faso pour consolider l’intégration économique

At the third ordinary meeting of the WAEMU Council of Ministers in Dakar, Aboubakar Nakanabo, Burkina Faso's Minister of Economy and Finance, was appointed president for a two-year term. His appointment comes with a strong commitment to ensuring continuity and strengthening the Union's achievements in a regional context marked by growing economic and financial challenges.

The session approved several structural measures aimed at improving economic and financial governance. These include the harmonized survey on household living conditions and the approval of the annual accounts of the WAEMU Monetary and Financial Agency. These initiatives will provide reliable and comparable data to guide public policies and strengthen the efficiency of the regional financial system.

Burkina Faso's presidency takes place within a framework of increased integration, where the objective is to consolidate cooperation between member states and promote harmonious economic development. It emphasizes transparency, the reliability of economic information, and the optimization of financial regulatory mechanisms.

By orchestrating these reforms and steering the strategic decisions of UEMOA, Aboubakar Nakanabo intends to affirm the central role of the Union as a vector of stability, growth and solidarity within the West African region.
