Mali : Assimi Goita nomme le général Daouda Traoré, chef d'État-major de la garde nationale

In Mali, the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, appointed Brigadier General Daouda Traoré as Chief of Staff of the National Guard. Prior to his appointment, the high-ranking officer held the position of Commander of the Unified Force of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), based in Niger.

He will therefore return to Bamako shortly to replace General Famouké Camara, who, according to rumors, is expected to be appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
