Mali : Assimi Goita réagit aux récentes attaques terroristes dans le pays
Mali has been paying a heavy price to terrorism since 2013. Thousands of soldiers and civilians have already lost their lives. And the bloodletting continues.
In mid-September 2025, these entrepreneurs of violence carried out several attacks in the west of the country, attempting to blockade several roads connecting Bamako. But they failed to reckon with the determination of the Malian armed forces, who routed them.
"Cowardly attacks on innocent civilians"
In his address to the nation yesterday, Monday, September 22, the anniversary of the country's independence, the president of the Malian transition, Army General Assimi Goita, denounced "cowardly attacks against innocent civilians."
For him, these enemy offensives "largely reflect (his) dismay in the face of the pressure from the armed and security forces on the ground."
The leader also called on "the population not to give in to the disinformation of these lawless groups."
"We must, more than ever, remain united and supportive in the face of the illusion of impostors and their foreign sponsors. It is by acting together that we will achieve our sovereignty," assured the transitional president.
“Have an autonomous army, capable of ensuring the sovereign defense of the national territory”
Since the junta came to power, the armed and security forces have been at the heart of government action.
The goal is to have an army "autonomous, capable of ensuring the sovereign defense of the national territory, protecting the fundamental interests of Mali and contributing to regional and international security and stability," revealed President Goita.
