Mali : La Tabaski célébrée le mercredi 27 mai 2026
The Ministry of Religious Affairs, Worship and Customs of Mali has officially announced that the Eid al-Adha festival, commonly known as "Tabaski" or "Seliba", will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 throughout the entire national territory.
In a statement published on May 16 in Bamako, Malian religious authorities indicated that the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Zoul Hidja, also called "Seliba Kalo", was not seen in any locality of the country on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Therefore, the lunar month of Zul Hidja will officially begin in Mali on Monday, May 18, 2026.
This decision follows deliberations by the National Moon Observation Commission, which is responsible for confirming the appearance of the crescent moon in accordance with religious prescriptions.
Tabaski is one of the most important celebrations for Muslims, marked by collective prayers, family gatherings and the ritual sacrifice of a sheep in commemoration of the faith of the Prophet Ibrahim.
