Niger : Création de l’Observatoire National de la Communication pour réguler les médias durant la transition
On September 1, the President of the Transition, General Abdourahamane Tiani, signed an order establishing the National Observatory of Communication (ONC), a body responsible for regulating the media during the Transition.
Its main missions are to guarantee freedom of the press, ensure equitable access to public media, ensure compliance with journalistic ethics and control the content disseminated in order to prevent any hate speech or violence.
The institution will be headed by a president appointed by decree and composed of several members and experts. It will also be able to provide opinions and recommendations to the government on matters related to communication.
