Niger : Nathalie Yamb soutenue par le président Tiani face aux sanctions de l’UE
Swiss-Cameroonian activist Nathalie Yamb, recently sanctioned by the European Union for her positions deemed pro-Russian, was received on August 11, 2025 by the Nigerien president, General Abourahamane Tiani.
The EU sanctions, which include a freeze on his assets and an entry ban, accuse him of wanting to "evict France and the EU from the African continent" and of openly supporting Moscow since the Russia-Africa summit in Sochi in 2019.
In the face of these measures, Yamb said she remains determined, seeing them as "confirmation" of the justice of her fight. She expressed her gratitude to the Nigerien authorities and the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (ESA) for their support, promising to continue this fight "until victory."
