Pape Djibril Fall dénonce une audience de l’UMS à la primature
MP Pape Djibril Fall denounces the meeting granted by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to the Union of Magistrates of Senegal (UMS). According to the elected official, who posted on his social media accounts this Friday, January 30, 2026, this meeting is far from insignificant and reflects a weak stance on the part of the magistrates' union in the face of the executive branch.
Indeed, the parliamentarian believes that the UMS "gave itself up with its hands tied" by agreeing to meet with the head of government, shortly after the latter's controversial outing in Morocco, where he had sharply criticized the magistrates.
"After the PM's vitriolic outburst against the magistrates in Morocco, the union could think of nothing better to do than to give itself up to one of its most virulent detractors," Pape Djibril Fall fumes.
According to him, this audience granted to the Prime Minister's office "reveals a lack of a stance that commands respect," even though justice is one of the essential pillars of the rule of law. The MP reiterates that "the Head of State is the keystone of the institutions. He has an obligation to put an end to this charade," he insists.
Pape Djibril Fall sees in the Prime Minister's recent pronouncements a deliberate attempt to regain control of the judiciary. "The PM's desire to bring the justice system to heel is clear," he accuses, calling for the definitive establishment of judicial independence, which he describes as "the last bastion."
As a reminder, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko received the UMS Executive Bureau, led by its president Cheikh Ba, at the Prime Minister's office on Friday, January 30.

Ce cheikh Ba sera certainement le pire président que l'UMS ait jamais eu.
Je me rappelle que lorsque sonko attaquait les magistrats lors de son Tera meeting, cheikh ba n'a pas osé lui répondre. Il a fait une sortie à la RTS pour répondre à ...Diomaye et à el Malick ndiaye. Mais pas à Sonko.
Avec lui, sonko pourra continuer à trainer la magistrature dans la boue pour très longtemps encore
