Parti aux USA via le Nicaragua, Alpha Kaba rentre cette nuit en Guinée dans un cercueil : Le rêve américain brisé
The Guinean community in the United States is in mourning. Mamadou Alpha Kaba, a 30-year-old Guinean who recently arrived in the United States via Nicaragua, died on November 26th from an illness at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York.
Alpha Kaba, like so many other young people, dreamed of a better future. He hoped to work hard to build a decent life and support his family back in Guinea. But fate decided otherwise: illness took him shortly after his arrival on American soil.
With no close relatives in the area, the GUICA-NY (Guinean Community Association of New York), led by Mamadou Saliou Diallo, took charge of the arrangements. A wave of solidarity immediately arose within the Guinean diaspora, enabling the repatriation of the body to be financed, in accordance with the wishes of the deceased's family. The funeral prayer was held at the Futa Islamic Center, attended by a large and grieving community.
On the night of Tuesday, December 9, as the New York cold gives way to the heat of Conakry, the remains of Alpha Kaba will land on board a Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flight, accompanied by the vice-president of GUICA-NY, Mamadou Dramé.
The burial is scheduled for this Wednesday, December 10, in Gomboya, in the prefecture of Coyah, where this son, gone too soon, his American dream shattered, will rest forever.
