Présidentielle guinéenne : 66 prétendants, dont un « Alpha Condé II », lancent la course au 28 décembre
The presidential race is intensifying in Guinea. No fewer than 66 candidates, including 50 from political parties and 16 independents, have officially declared their intention to run for the highest office. The announcement was made this Thursday, October 9, 2025, by Djénabou Touré, Director General of Elections (DGE), during a press briefing in Conakry. According to Ms. Touré, the electoral process is now overseen by two ad hoc commissions, placed under the supervision of ONASUR, the Supreme Court, and the Directorate General of Elections (DGE). "In accordance with Article 70 of the electoral law, the collection of sponsorships can only begin once the files are submitted to the DGE. It is within this framework that the transitional authorities have established two commissions: one responsible for validating sponsorships, the other for setting the deposit and capping campaign expenses," she explained.
The director of the DGE also wanted to clarify: "The deposit is not a barrier, but a commitment. It is calculated based on the costs associated with printing the ballots. Candidates obtaining more than 5% of the votes will be reimbursed, while the others will contribute indirectly to the national budget." On the side of the political parties, 50 formations have already designated their representatives to actively participate in the election, including the PPGR, the Liberal Bloc (BL), the APR and the UFD.
Among the independents, 16 personalities have filed their declarations, including Dr. Ben Youssouf Keïta, Robert Téa, Soliba Bangoura, and the "mysterious" Alpha Condé II, who is already generating numerous reactions from public opinion. In conclusion, Djénabou Touré emphasized that the participation of these numerous candidates reflects the collective desire to reconnect with a pluralist constitutional order. "Compliance with the legal steps—sponsorships, guarantees, spending limits—is a true test of the country's democratic maturity," she stated.
