Raphinha 5e du Ballon d'Or: "n'importe quoi", juge Neymar
Brazilian star Neymar was not happy with the Ballon d'Or ranking, believing that his compatriot Raphinha, ranked fifth, deserved a better fate given his successful season with FC Barcelona.
"Raphinha fifth, that's really crazy," the 33-year-old striker wrote on Instagram, in a comment on a post from the Ofuiclear profile showing the top 10 of the award presented Monday evening in Paris.
The Ballon d'Or went to Frenchman Ousmane Dembelé, from Paris Saint-Germain, where Neymar played from 2017 to 2023.
Raphinha, who boasts impressive statistics for Barça (34 goals and 25 assists in 57 matches in 2024-25), was also overtaken by his Spanish teammate Lamine Yamal, second to Dembélé, by the Portuguese Vitinha (PSG), who completed the podium, and by the Egyptian Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), fourth.
Last year, many voices were raised in Brazil to criticize the awarding of the Ballon d'Or to the Spaniard Rodri to the detriment of Vinicius Junior (2nd), the main architect of Real Madrid's Champions League title in the 2023-24 season.
Kaka, crowned in 2007, is the last Brazilian to have won the most prestigious individual award in world football.
Neymar, who now plays for Santos, his training club, achieved his two best Ballon d'Or rankings in 2015 and 2017, finishing third each time behind the Messi-Ronaldo tandem.
