«Résultats fictifs» : la Commission électorale ivoirienne dépose une plainte contre un média
In Ivory Coast, things are becoming tense just hours before the election. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has just announced a complaint against the news website Abidjan.net.
She explains that "this media published on its digital platforms fictitious results presented as those of the presidential election even before the actual vote took place."
An act that the Ivorian electoral authority describes as a false dissemination, devoid of any factual basis. For the CEI, this is a clear violation of the laws and regulations governing the press and communication during election periods.
"Through this irresponsible behavior, the media outlet in question is undermining the credibility of the electoral process and sowing confusion among public opinion," it said in a press release.
For its part, Abidjan.net stated that this was an unfortunate technical incident that occurred during the update operations.
"This incident resulted in the temporary display of data on the homepage of the Abidjan.net website. We wish to make it clear that, as the vote has not yet taken place, the data displayed in this way does not constitute real or official results," the media outlet said in an apology.
