Soudan : qui est Abu Lulu, ce chef de guerre sanguinaire qui diffuse des mises à mort sur TikTok ?
Since the fall of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur (Sudan), a week ago, numerous videos of executions carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have flooded TikTok. Facing the camera is one of its most brutal commanders, Abu Lulu.
A mass murderer. Black curly hair, paramilitary fatigues... Abu Lulu, with a smile on his face, proudly sits enthroned around his victims lying on the ground. A camera and a weapon are all this Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander needs to fuel a TikTok account followed by more than 220,000 people, an account since removed by the platform.
After an eighteen-month siege, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took El-Fasher on October 26, the last strategic stronghold that escaped their control in Darfur, a vast region in western Sudan.
Since then, the paramilitaries have quickly released videos of their atrocities to celebrate their victory over the Sudanese regular army. And one man seems to relentlessly resurface in the spotlight: Abu Lulu.
More than 2,000 victims killed
His real name is Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris, and this officer deliberately stages, with his face uncovered, the execution of defenseless civilians. "I will continue to kill. If anyone wants to hold me accountable, let them come here, including the UN," he declared to the camera. The man openly proclaims his lack of mercy. Worse, he boasts of having killed more than 2,000 people, amused by having lost count, as reported by the German newspaper Bild.
Earlier this week, a recording showed a wounded man begging for his life. To which Abu Lulu replied, "I will show no mercy, I will not forgive," before shooting him at point-blank range.
Arrested and imprisoned by the FSR
And these abuses did not begin this week. Like other members of the FSR, he had been displaying his cruelty in Darfur for several months already, and previously in Khartoum or in the Kordofan region, in the south of the country.
A few hours after the first images were released, the FSR attempted to distance itself from Abu Lulu, claiming he was not one of their members. Last Thursday, they announced they had arrested and detained Abu Lulu at Shala prison, on the outskirts of the city, pending an investigation.
