Tambacounda : Un gendarme tué et un autre grièvement blessé dans un accident
While the aftermath of the horrific accident that occurred late Sunday evening in Diénoudiala (Dialacoto), which claimed the lives of three people who were burned beyond recognition, is still fresh in everyone's minds, the tragic series of accidents continues on the roads of the Tambacounda region. Another fatal accident occurred yesterday afternoon, around 2:34 PM.
This time, a National Gendarmerie vehicle overturned on National Route 1 (RN 1), near the village of Haltou Fass, in the municipality of Malème Niani. The vehicle was transporting members of the surveillance and protection squadron stationed in Kédougou, who were traveling from Dakar, when it suddenly veered off the road and overturned on the left shoulder.
Due to the extreme force of the impact, one of the gendarmes died instantly. Another soldier escaped with serious injuries.
Alerted by the tragedy, officers from the Koumpentoum gendarmerie brigade immediately deployed to the scene, accompanied by firefighters. After the standard procedures were carried out, the seriously injured person and the deceased were transported to a hospital. An investigation has already been launched to determine the exact circumstances of this latest road tragedy.
