Tchad : 25 ans de prison requis contre Succès Masra
The trial into the Mandakao events resumed for its third day this Friday. The Chadian government is seeking 5 billion CFA francs in damages and the confiscation of the assets of opposition leader Succès Masra, former Prime Minister and leader of the Les Transformateurs party.
Prosecuted for "disseminating racist and xenophobic messages," "murder," and "criminal conspiracy," he faces a 25-year prison sentence, a sentence also sought against some sixty co-defendants. The prosecution, however, is seeking acquittal on the grounds of doubt for nine other defendants.
