Tchad : N’Djamena rejette un rapport de l’ONU
The Chadian government has disputed the United Nations' accusations of deadly strikes against civilians during anti-jihadist operations in the Lake Chad region.
Through its spokesperson Gassim Chérif Mahamat, the authorities denounce allegations aimed at discrediting the army, which they present as respectful of international law.
These accusations follow a report by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights that cited dozens of civilian casualties after airstrikes attributed to Chadian and Nigerian forces in northeastern Nigeria. The UN is calling for independent investigations, while N'Djamena says it is open to inquiry, asserting that it has a justice system capable of shedding light on these events.
This controversy comes amid a prolonged struggle against terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Basin.
