In Kenya, a 35-year-old man set fire to his family home after his father refused to give him money, an incident that has sparked outrage on social media.
According to information shared on Facebook by a user identified as Eric Mboya, the incident occurred on Friday, February 6, 2026. The man allegedly asked his father for 5,000 Kenyan shillings to go out with friends. When his father refused, he reportedly returned later with gasoline and set fire to his parents' house.
According to the same source, the suspect lived in the same house that he himself set on fire. The exact circumstances of the fire, as well as the extent of the material damage or any potential injuries, had not been officially specified at the time of publication.
This incident comes barely two weeks after a similar case was also reported in Kenya. In the village of Thunguma, in Nyeri County, a 40-year-old man allegedly set fire to his parents' house after his mother refused to give him 100 shillings.
The repetition of such acts, motivated by financial disputes within families, worries many Kenyan internet users.
