In Guinea-Bissau, the leader of the coup, President Horta Inta-a, was promoted to the rank of army general yesterday, Monday, February 2, 2026. This took place during a ceremony in the capital, Bissau.
In the speech delivered on the occasion, Mr. Inta-a affirmed that the coup of November 26, 2025 is not intended to persecute anyone, but to unite all Bissau-Guineans for the building of the nation.
