Wadagni-Talata, Abodjo-Lodjou … : Les 5 duos de candidats à la Présidentielle-2026 au Bénin
In Benin, the succession of President Patrice Talon is open. The National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) closed yesterday, Tuesday, October 14, the registration of candidate duos for the presidential election of April 12, 2026.
The presidential movement, represented by the current Minister of Finance, Romuald Wadagni, and the Vice-President of the Republic, Mariama Chabi Talata, submitted its candidacy on Monday, as did the Cowrie Forces for an Emerging Benin (FCBE) party.
The Democrats' file needs to be completed
The duo of this political party is composed of Paul Hounkpè and Judicaël Rock Hounwanou. The Democrats, the main opposition party, submitted their candidacy documents yesterday evening, Tuesday. Their two candidates (Me Renaud Agbodjo and Bonaventure Judicaël Lodjou) were greeted by a crowd of enthusiastic activists. When handing over the provisional receipt to the duo, the president of the CENA, Sacca Lafia, indicated that their application needed to be completed.
Two other duos have submitted their applications to the electoral commission.
These are the tandems Anatole Ouinsavi-Agathe Bello and Élisabeth Agbossaga-Djawad-Béni Neto Gansaré.
In total, five application files were registered by the Cena, as of October 13, 2025.
The publication of the provisional list of selected duos will take place on October 26, while the final list is announced for the 31st.
