Cannes 2026 : Ces Sénégalais qui ont fait sensation sur la Croisette
The Cannes Film Festival remains the most prestigious cinematic event in the world, the most followed cultural event on the planet. For its 79th edition, which closed on May 23 after 12 days of festivities, the Croisette felt the elegance of Senegal.
From the marches to the photographers, a delegation of women and men proudly represented Senegal.
Coumba Gawlo Seck, the queen of the carpet
True to form, the diva once again embodied grace. In a creation by Romzy, Coumba Gawlo Seck ascended the red carpet with poise. Her regal bearing and sovereign presence were a testament to Senegalese craftsmanship and elegance. An appearance worthy of a diva.

Aïcha Rassoul Gningue: First time, first burst of brilliance
A newcomer to the Croisette, Aïcha Rassoul Gningue certainly made an impression. An influencer and wife of businessman Aziz Ndiaye, she dazzled with her beauty and stage presence. Stunning, as they say, she made a successful debut, with the effortless grace of someone born to shine. She was representing a Senegalese makeup brand.

Fatou Jupiter, the consistency of style
Actress Fatou Jupiter Touré never disappoints. In a sumptuous, structured, and imposing black gown, she graced the red carpet with the same ease she displays on screen in her television series. Every gesture, every glance, reflected her mastery. From her hairstyle to her posture, she embodied Senegalese aesthetic expertise like a manifesto. Her presence in Cannes is no accident; it is the culmination of a remarkable career.
Liliane Maroune, the legacy of the catwalks
Daughter of the famous DJ Edouardo, Liliane Maroune caused a sensation. Her form-fitting, intricately designed black dress revealed the strength of her confident African silhouette. Under the glare of the camera flashes, she posed with disarming naturalness, elegance at her core.
Wife of Ivorian singer Sindika, she embodies a new generation that embraces glamour without any hang-ups.

Mia aka Socharmante, the radiant influence
The French-based influencer and model lived up to expectations. Draped in a long blue dress with a daring neckline, Socharmante caused a sensation at Meta's invitation. Just like last year, her excitement was evident in her smile as she walked the red carpet. Her appearance confirms the growing influence of content creators in the new cultural landscape.

Angèle Diabang, commitment in the spotlight
Director, producer, and screenwriter Angèle Diabang was also a member of the Un Certain Regard jury. She graced each of her appearances in outfits made in Senegal, much like most of the Senegalese women present.

On the men's side: Pape Gueye saves the day
The only male representative mentioned, Senegalese international Pape Gueye, made a strong impression. Dressed in a black tuxedo, a perfectly fitted bow tie, and a white shirt, the footballer described this first experience as "unforgettable." His poise served as a reminder that elegance knows no gender.
Most of these celebrities were invited by the brands they represent. However, whether it's fashion, cultural influence, or cinema, Senegal is making its mark in all areas.
In any case, beyond the glamour, the dresses, rhinestones, sequins and flashes, the Festival retains its missions of promoting cinema, rewarding excellence, doing business with the Film Market and encouraging diversity.
