Gamou de Tivaouane : La Police dévoile les interdictions de circulation à moins de 48h de l'événement
As the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) approaches, the National Police has released the traffic plan for the Gamou of Tivaouane, with strict prohibition measures in several strategic areas of the holy city, Seneweb learned from the Communication Division under the direction of Commissioner Mamadou Diouf.
Areas completely closed to traffic
In an official statement, the Police Communication announced a total ban on all installations or commercial activities in several key areas of Tivaouane. These drastic measures aim to facilitate the flow of pilgrims and ensure their safety during religious festivities.
The areas affected by these bans include El Hadji Malick SY Avenue, the main artery extending from the bus station to the carriage garage, as well as Alioune Palla Mbaye Avenue, from the crossroads to the Grand Mosque.
Mosque sector under high surveillance
The Mosques and Mausoleums sector of the El Hadji Malick SY neighborhood is receiving special attention, with a complete ban on parking and commercial activities. This measure also extends to the Baobab area, from the Serigne Mbaye SY Abdou angle to the Thiand cemeteries.
Other sensitive areas are also affected, including the area behind Mame Habib's house on the paved road to the Town Hall, as well as the basketball court and the esplanade opposite School 1.
Strict restrictions on public transport
The authorities have been particularly strict regarding public transport vehicles. For the return of pilgrims, no public transport vehicle is allowed to leave a parking lot before being fully loaded. This measure aims to optimize the use of transport and avoid traffic jams.
Sanctions announced for offenders
The National Police has warned that drivers of vehicles who violate these provisions are liable to enforcement of the regulations in force. This warning underscores the authorities' firmness in enforcing these temporary but essential measures.
