BTP : quand les coûts s’envolent et bousculent le chantier de la croissance
Since the beginning of 2025, construction costs in Senegal have shown a steady increase, with the IBTP index rising from 103 in the first quarter to 103.9 in the second quarter. This trend reflects a steady increase compared to the end of 2024, reflecting the growing pressure on the construction and public works sector.
The dynamic is largely explained by the increase in the price of construction materials, both imported and locally produced, and by sustained demand driven by public and private infrastructure projects. Developers and contractors are directly feeling this tension, which can affect the profitability of construction sites and medium-term project planning.
This context highlights a major challenge for the national economy: reconciling urbanization ambitions with cost control. Investments in housing, roads, and public facilities, essential to development, must now contend with an environment where price volatility can turn projected budgets into real financial headaches.
To address this pressure, the sector must embrace innovation in construction techniques, optimization of supply chains, and the use of alternative materials. The goal is to contain soaring costs while maintaining the quality and sustainability of infrastructure, so that construction continues to support Senegal's growth and urban transformation.

Tous les milliards volés au peuple ont été investis dans l'immobilier ,c'est ce qui cause la flambée les coûts.
S.N vous avez parfaitement raison. C'est bien ça. Ils ont tout mis dans les batiments et terrains, ces voleurs. C'est pourquoi quand le batiment va, contrairement à ce qu'on dit, rien ne va. C'est ce qui arrive actuellement
Concilier flambée des prix et ouvrages de qualité j' en doute. Attention aux matériaux de construction de mauvaise qualité qui ont pour conséquence :durée de vie réduite et effondrement des ouvrages en somme perte économique

Cette phrase est en parfaite contradiction avec le catastrophisme colporté quotidiennement par une certaine presse qui veut nous faire croire que rien ne va au Sénégal. Qu'il y a une "crise" du bâtiment, que tous les travaux sont à l'arrêt et les pauvres maçon ne savent plus à quel serigne se vouer.
