Campagne agricole 2025 : Un bilan satisfaisant, mais des défis à relever (Nadjirou Sall)
The president of the National Council for Consultation and Cooperation of Rural People (CNCR), Nadjirou Sall, gave a satisfactory assessment of the 2025 agricultural campaign, while highlighting structural challenges, particularly in the areas of seeds and pastoralism.
Invited to the program "Point de vue" on RTS, he stated that the agricultural campaign is nearing completion under conditions deemed encouraging. "Overall, we are finalizing a campaign with good rainfall and good crop production in terms of productivity."
However, on the pastoral level, Nadjirou Sall drew attention to certain difficulties located in the Linguère-Daara area in particular, where, he said, the nature of certain grasses could cause digestive problems in cattle.
He believes this situation could lead to early relocation of livestock farmers to other areas, "which illustrates the complexity and sensitivity of pastoralism in Senegal".
He also praised the efforts of the public authorities, particularly the mobilization of 130 billion CFA francs, an increase of 10 billion compared to the previous campaign, and expressed his satisfaction with the start of the agricultural campaign, marked by a better distribution of agricultural inputs.
When questioned about the management of these resources, Nadjirou Sall confirmed the improved transparency in fertilizer distribution. "The CNCR was involved from the outset, particularly in the selection of suppliers," he explained, praising the transparency in management.
He also specified that representatives of the organization had served on the departmental committees. To date, he said, no major complaints have been registered by the CNCR.
Acknowledging that Senegal is not yet self-sufficient in seeds, he commended the efforts of the government and private producers in addressing this challenge. "As long as we remain focused on a strategy of using only low-quality seeds, there will always be risks," he warned.
Innovations for seed autonomy
The farmers' representative indicated that the Senegalese Institute for Agricultural Research (ISRA), which has a potential of 97,000 hectares, has opened some stations to private producers to produce certified seeds. "Four sites have thus been mobilized for maize, millet, rice, and peanuts. Production is currently in the evaluation and certification phase."
For the president of the CNCR, this initiative represents an important step towards the traceability, preservation, and autonomy of the national seed stock. "These are innovations that must be encouraged and sustained," he declared.
According to Mr. Sall, seed sovereignty is an essential condition for sustainably securing agricultural campaigns and strengthening the resilience of family farms.
In conclusion, Nadjirou Sall called on the State to continue these reforms undertaken and to provide constant support to producers.

Aux mêmes moments le premier ministre offre 15 millions à Khombole, une pratique qu'il fistigeait quand il était opposant. Le projet n'existe pas.
