Croissance industrielle au Sénégal : +5,6 % au 2e trimestre 2025, dopée par les hydrocarbures
Senegalese industrial activity grew by 5.6% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the previous quarter, according to the WAEMU Regional Economic Outlook. This increase was driven by the mining and extractive sectors (+16.0%), with hydrocarbon production up 27.2%. In contrast, metal ores (gold) declined by 19.5%, and manufacturing industries contracted by 3.9%, affected by agri-food (-3.1%) and chemical (-17.8%) products. Electricity production jumped by 11.6%.
Over the year, industry grew by 29.9%, driven by hydrocarbons (+101.3%) and energy (+5.3%), with advances in refining (+21.6%) and metallurgical products (+37.3%). Manufacturing, however, declined by 0.7%, impacted by agri-food (-3.6%), chemicals (-12.7%) and mineral materials (-6.3%).
Over the half-year, industry grew by 26.7%, thanks to extractive industries (+84%) and manufacturing (+1.4%), as well as energy (+2.9%).
These performances reflect the start of gas production in January 2025, despite structural challenges.
