Disagreements between Senegal and the IMF: Here are the 4 measures at the origin
According to Jeune Afrique, discussions have become tense between the IMF and Senegal since the last mission to Senegal, due to the corrective measures recommended to the Senegalese authorities.
These measures are four in number. According to the Pan-African newspaper, Edward Gemayel and his men, after their meeting with the Senegalese authorities during their last mission in August, recommended the centralization of debt management functions, the establishment of a centralized debt database, the strengthening of control over budgetary commitments, and the gradual consolidation of public accounts under the Single Treasury Account.
These corrective measures are intended to address the root causes of the "erroneous statements" revealed by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. According to the source, the Senegalese authorities and the IMF disagree on these corrective measures, as well as on the outlines of the new program.
