The National Register of Businesses and Associations (RNEA) recorded 26,685 new registrations in the last quarter of 2025, representing a 32% increase compared to the previous quarter. However, a decrease of 1.1% was recorded compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), new business registrations remain largely dominated by sole proprietorships (76%). These are followed by Economic Interest Groups (7.4%), Limited Liability Companies (2.7%), and Single-Member Limited Liability Companies (2.2%).
Trade dominates
Indeed, new creations are more numerous in the trade sector, which accounts for 29.9% of registrations of legal entities and 72.2% of individual businesses.
Individual businesses are also moving towards services (6.2%), agriculture, livestock and fishing (4.9%), personal and miscellaneous services (4.0%), transport and telecommunications (3.5%), as well as building and public works (2.9%).
However, the food (0.9%) and textile (0.6%) industries remain marginal in the structure of registrations.
Men create more…
The Dakar region accounts for nearly half of all registrations (49.8%). It is followed by the regions of Thiès (11.9%), Kaolack (8.1%), and Diourbel (7.5%). The lowest proportions are recorded in the regions of Matam (1.7%), Kaffrine (1.3%), and Kédougou (1.2%).
Furthermore, the ANSD report's findings indicate a male predominance. Men account for 67.4% of new registrations, while women represent 32.6%. Individual entrepreneurs aged 35 to 54 constitute the most represented category, accounting for 41.2% of registered businesses.
