Économie : La mauvaise passe des exportations sénégalaises
Senegalese exports are declining further. After falling from 514.6 billion CFA francs in June to 431.9 billion in July, they fell to 404.7 billion in August, a decline of 6.3%. According to the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), the decline is due to a drop in shipments of gold (-55.9%), fresh fish (-21.9%), among other items.
Mali, Spain, India… this month’s customers
Among the main products exported in August were our hydrocarbons (112.2 billion FCFA), other petroleum products (64.6 billion FCFA), phosphoric acid (35.5 billion FCFA), gold (33.2 billion FCFA) and hydraulic cement (12.6 billion FCFA).
Senegal's main customers are Mali (15.9%), Spain (11.7%), India (11.5%), Italy (11.4%) and the Netherlands (10.3%).
Cumulative exports at the end of August 2025 will amount to 3,676.8 billion FCFA, compared to 2,273.6 billion FCFA for the same period in 2024. This represents an increase of 61.7%, according to the ANSD.
A welcome drop in imports
Imports were valued at 517.5 billion CFA francs in August, compared to 635.6 billion CFA francs the previous month. This represents a reduction of 18.6%. This decline is attributable to the contraction in purchases of crude petroleum oils (-48.6%), and animal and vegetable oils and fats (-48.6%).
Compared to August 2024, imports decreased by 19.2%. Their cumulative total at the end of August 2025 stands at 4,721.9 billion FCFA, compared to 4,620.1 billion FCFA for the same period in 2024, an increase of 2.2%.
A much better trade balance
Among the main imported products are "other petroleum products" (101.8 billion FCFA), crude petroleum oil (42.8 billion FCFA), rice (41.2 billion FCFA), etc. China, Honduras, Russia and France are Senegal's main suppliers.
Overall, the trade balance stood at -112.8 billion FCFA in August 2025, compared to -203.8 billion FCFA in the previous month. The cumulative trade balance over the first 8 months of 2025 stood at -1045.0 billion FCFA, compared to -2346.6 billion FCFA in the same period in 2024.

L'état doit se battre pour acheter le pétrole sénégalais et ne plus payer les coûts de transport et logistique.
C'est une aberration d'être pays producteur et de devoir importer les matières premières disponibles sur son sol
La SAR commence à transformer le brut et Vivement une autre raffinerie.
Avec beaucoup de sérieux et de patriotisme le sénégal réussira le pari.
Peut etre que ces chiffres peuvent nous donner une idee sur la dynamique de croissance au troisieme trimestre de cette annee. En effet la croissance durant les premiers six mois a ete dopee par la performance des exportations. Or cette tendance a la hausse a diminue ou du moins le rythme avec une contre performance de cfa 109.9 milliards pour les mois de juillet et aout. A moins que les autres secteurs comme l'agricultures, industrie voire service contribuent davantage. Cela me penser a la question qu j'avais qui me vient a l'esprit. Durant les deux premiers trimestres la croissance moyenne du pib a depasse le seuil des 10%. Or le gouvernement table sur une prevision de 8,5% (well below the lower bound of growth trend) ?
