Inclusion économique : La DER/FJ lance la caravane Be YES au profit des GIE

The General Delegation for Rapid Entrepreneurship of Women and Youth (DER/FJ) launched, this Monday, September 15, 2025, a national caravan for the symbolic delivery of funding to the Economic Interest Groups (EIG) that were selected under the Be Yes program. This two-day tour (15 and 16) was officially launched in Tambacounda by the General Delegate of the DER/FJ, Dr. Aïssatou Mbodj, in the presence of the Prefect Alioune Badara Mbengue, and the 1st Deputy Mayor of Tambacounda, Ba Oumou Diallo.

Objective: “Build a supportive and innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem to serve local development”

The Be YES program, implemented by the DER/FJ with the support of the MasterCard Foundation, pays particular attention to the development of collective entrepreneurship through the financing of economic interest groups (EIGs). This strategy is based on an inclusive and territorialized approach aimed at stimulating self-employment and local innovation, by mobilizing the collective dynamics already present in communities; strengthening territorial equity, by allowing all departments of Senegal, including the most remote, to access the same financing opportunities; and promoting social inclusion, with particular attention paid to young people, women and vulnerable groups, particularly people with disabilities.

This program, which perfectly fits the territorialization policy of the DER/FJ intervention, aims to build a supportive and innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem to serve local development. It is therefore an initiative consistent with the objectives of the Senegal 2050 national transformation agenda, according to the General Delegate of the DER/FJ.

Nearly 2 billion FCFA mobilized to finance 1,000 EIGs

In total, 1,000 beneficiary economic interest groups (EIGs) will be formalized and trained by the Be YES program in Senegal's 46 departments, or an average of nearly 21 EIGs per department. A total of 1.7 billion CFA francs has also been mobilized to support their economic activities. According to Dr. Aïssatou Mbodj, this funding will enable the creation and consolidation of nearly 10,000 jobs in various sectors.

Among these 1,000 direct beneficiary EIGs, the General Delegate of the DER/FJ reports that particular attention is paid to women (7,000) and people with disabilities (675).

Training and support, beyond financing

The Be YES program is not limited to providing funding alone. It focuses primarily on formalizing and strengthening the capacities of beneficiaries. As a result, more than 10,000 young people have received entrepreneurship training and 4,011 hours of non-financial support (coaching, mentoring, post-financing follow-up) have already been provided.

At the same time, innovation infrastructures will be set up across the country: 7 D-Hubs and 14 Fab Labs. Post-financing follow-up is also planned, particularly in these creative spaces to enable EIG members to receive training in digital technology and the use of innovative equipment.

Through Be Yes, DER/FJ is contributing 13,500 jobs created for this first phase to the Mastercard Foundation's Young Africa Works strategy, which aims to create 30 million decent and fulfilling jobs in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030, targeting 18 to 35 year-olds and with a minimum percentage of women of 70%.

After Tambacounda, the Be YES caravan traveled through the departments of Kaffrine, Kaolack and Gossas for this first day.
