Invest in Sénégal : Les vérités «crues» de Aliko Dangote
In the African economic and entrepreneurial ecosystem, he is certainly the most listened to voice. A businessman deeply attached to his continent, Aliko Dangote heads an economic empire that commands respect. Specially invited by President Diomaye Faye, he participated in this edition of the Invest in Senegal forum. In front of the audience at the Abdou Diouf Conference Center, he did not mince his words.
"We need to invest in our continent. We are making big mistakes by always turning to foreign investors. Foreign investors will only come when local investors have invested. This must be remembered," he insisted.
"If we don't take this risk, no one will..."
The Nigerian businessman concedes that African champions need the support of other partners. "Because we alone will not be able to achieve the scale that Africa needs," he says. But for foreigners to come and invest, Africans must lead the way, "showing that we have faith in our continent and that our continent is open for business," he says.
Aliko Dangote gave the example of his fertilizer plant launched in Ethiopia a few days ago. A factory worth more than $2.5 billion, it demonstrates the capacity of local investors. "Because we know how to avoid all these risks. That's why we are present everywhere we invest. If we don't take this risk, no one else will," he said.
"They have opened their economy, but in Africa it is very difficult..."
Dangote also urges African countries to learn from other countries' experiences, particularly regarding visa restrictions, so that other investors can invest. "Before, the most difficult visa to obtain was the Saudi visa. But today it's the easiest to obtain. They've opened up their economies, but in Africa it's very difficult," says the continent's richest man.
The businessman calls on leaders to address the issue. And above all, to ensure the free movement of goods and services. "Even traveling is very expensive. To go from Lomé to Accra, it costs you $600. How can you travel for $600 for 21 minutes? Sometimes to go from Lomé to Mali, I have to go through Paris. It doesn't make sense," he says.
Leading the way for African investment in Africa
Although our countries present many opportunities, Dangote believes that these can only be exploited if there are people who take risks with their capital. Therefore, it is urgent to establish strong banking institutions, and to develop the manufacturing sector, as well as agriculture, new technologies and infrastructure.
"Foreigners should come and be partners. No foreigner will invest here in Africa if we don't show the way. Perhaps the Chinese. And that's what we, the champions, are doing, that is, showing the way for investment in Africa by Africans," the businessman concludes.

vous êtes jeunes , patientez si le gvt ne vous plait et ça ne sert à rien d'insulter
L'Africain préfére la réussite de l'étranger plutôt que celle de son homologue africain.
