Kaolack : Le budget du Conseil départemental porté à 1,8 milliard pour 2026
The Kaolack Departmental Council voted on Monday to approve the city's 2026 budget, set at 1.8 billion CFA francs for investments and 587 million for operating expenses. This shows that investments far exceed operating expenses, which total 1.8 billion CFA francs, as reported by Seneweb. President Akhmed Youssouph Bengelloum emphasized that this budget reflects the institution's ambitions: "Things went smoothly. The budget was passed almost unanimously. There was only one abstention."
The construction of the cultural center and the vocational training center in Kaolack is among the achievements, as is the design and expansion of the maternity ward at the regional hospital. Also noteworthy among these investments is the construction of the second grandstand at the Lamine Guèye Stadium, a long-standing request from local athletes. Similarly, the renovation of the Moustapha Ndiaye Middle School is also included.
"This is the time to ask the Ministry of Territorial Communities to do everything possible to ensure that the funds made available to local authorities are available as quickly as possible. We would like this allocation of grant funds to be made available before March 31 as required by law," argues Mr. Bengelloum.
