The African Development Bank (AfDB) and several regional financial institutions launched the creation of a pan-African financial coordination platform on November 19, 2025, in Abidjan. This mechanism aims to centralize and harmonize investment projects across the continent in order to improve the efficiency of resource allocation and maximize the economic and social impact of financing. The platform is expected to better synchronize public and private initiatives, unify technical standards, and facilitate the flow of capital between countries and sectors.

Leaders of African development finance institutions stressed the importance of a collective approach to meet the continent's massive financial needs, while taking into account the political and economic constraints that may slow down some projects.

The initiative also plans to strengthen the capitalization of institutions and facilitate access to innovative financing, such as green bonds or securitization instruments adapted to African specificities.

A working group has been set up to detail how the platform works, define its governance mechanisms and assess the priority projects to be integrated.

The African Development Bank also plans to involve the private sector and rating agencies from mid-December onwards to ensure transparency, credibility, and attractiveness for international investors. This project reflects a desire for greater coordination among African financial actors and represents a step towards an integrated capital market capable of sustainably supporting the continent's economic development and strengthening its financial sovereignty.
