Les exportations à un niveau presque record : Le pétrole et l’Or boostent les ventes, la balance commerciale excédentaire !
Senegalese exports continue their strong momentum. In March 2026, they reached 713.4 billion CFA francs, compared to 453.1 billion CFA francs in February. This represents a remarkable jump of 260.3 billion CFA francs, according to foreign trade statistics.
According to the document from the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), the increase was driven by sales of Senegalese crude oil. These sales climbed to 227.5 billion FCFA in March, compared to 142.3 billion in February.
Gold exports, which grew from 90.7 billion in February to 162.9 billion in March, phosphoric acid sales, which amounted to 55.3 billion after a near absence in February, and the 30.7 billion generated by the marketing of GTA's liquefied natural gas, also contributed.
Compared to March 2025, exports increased by 73.3%. Their cumulative value at the end of March 2026 stood at 1579.2 billion FCFA compared to 1386.1 billion FCFA for the same period in 2025. This represents an increase of 13.9%.
A surplus balance!
Imports, meanwhile, rose to 529.6 billion FCFA in March, compared to 513.2 billion in February. This 3.2% increase is explained, among other things, by higher purchases of rice (37.6 billion), wheat and meslin (24.2 billion), and fertilizers (20 billion). Their cumulative total at the end of March 2026 stands at 1,567.7 billion FCFA, compared to 1,846.6 billion FCFA for the same period in 2025, representing a decrease of 15.1%.
Upon arrival, the trade balance showed a surplus of 183.8 billion FCFA at the end of March, compared to a deficit of 60.1 billion FCFA the previous month. The cumulative balance at the end of March 2026 stands at +11.5 billion FCFA, compared to -460.5 billion FCFA for the same period in 2025.
