The State of Senegal raised over 454 billion CFA francs on the regional financial market on December 9th. This record-breaking operation saw FBNBank Senegal participate as a financial player committed to the WAEMU region.
It "partnered with local institutions to support this large-scale operation, thus contributing to the stability of the regional market." Omar Dioum, CEO of FBNBank Senegal, expressed his pride in their contribution to this "historic 454 billion FCFA transaction on the regional financial market."
This, he said, is a major contribution that "reflects the Group's strength, the expertise of the teams and the commitment to supporting the Senegalese economy as well as the economies of the UEMOA, by strengthening solid, credible and inclusive financial markets."
First Bank of Nigeria Ltd., lead investor
Mr. Dioum congratulated his teams. He gave special recognition to First Bank of Nigeria Ltd. as the lead investor. FBNBank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting major initiatives of the State of Senegal.
Indeed, the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) admitted to its listing last Tuesday the four bond issues issued by the State of Senegal for a total amount of 454 billion CFA francs. This represents an exceptional coverage rate of 146%, well above the initial target of 300 billion CFA francs.
The Director General of the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM), Dr. Edoh Kossi Amenounve, hailed the fundraising as "historic" during the official ceremony. He emphasized that the success of this capital raising operation reflects the market's renewed confidence in Senegal's economic fundamentals.
The resources collected, he said, will contribute to the financing of strategic sectors of the 2025 budget, including infrastructure, energy, health, education and modernized agriculture.
