Sonko à Dubaï : Un avenant signé avec Dp World pour le port de Ndayane
Having been in the United Arab Emirates for several days, the Prime Minister and his delegation traveled to Dubai this Thursday. There, a meeting took place between Senegalese authorities and the bosses of DP World, the company responsible for constructing the Ndayane port. According to RTS, an amendment was signed between the various parties to accelerate and complete the work.
"Today in Senegal, the largest project underway economically is the Ndayane port project, which will reach, at the very least, 700 billion. It is a project that constitutes the future of Senegal's ports. This amendment allows for the consideration of common maritime infrastructures (IMC)," indicated Waly Diouf Bodian.
And these IMCs will now be handled by DP World. This will accelerate the work, according to the Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar. He points out that once this amendment is signed, the road will be cleared so that financing can be secured. "So this is extremely important; time is against us; the port of Ndayane must be operational by 2028. So every month, every day lost will push us further away from the deadline," he says.
According to Alassane Diop, West Africa Director of Dp World, Dakar captured 97% of Malian traffic in 2017. But today, the port of Dakar only handles 67%. "And if we don't urgently complete Ndayane, this figure will drop and we'll never catch up. That's why Ndayane must be completed immediately, without delay, and we're ahead of schedule on the project," he assures.
