Cri du cœur des étudiants de Matam à Thiès : Aucune aide, aucune subvention, aucun appui depuis des années
For the past three years, students in the Matam region of Thiès have been living in extremely difficult conditions. They held a press conference this Sunday afternoon, November 9, 2025, to express their heartfelt plea to the officials and authorities of the Matam region.
Chérif Dia, president of the student association in the Matam region of Thiès, emphasized: "Despite our numerous appeals and statements, no aid, no subsidies, no support has been granted to our students." He loudly proclaimed that "today, it is the students themselves who, with their meager resources, are paying for their rent, meals, and daily necessities."
The situation has become alarming.
He notes that: "some are depriving themselves of the bare necessities just to be able to continue studying. But the situation has become alarming. Many of us risk being evicted for lack of being able to pay the rent, and most seriously, last year several students were already forced to abandon their studies because they did not have accommodation."
These students say they are all the more anxious because "in the coming days, we will be welcoming more than 100 new high school graduates from Matam to Thiès, without premises, without support, without assistance."
We should also ask ourselves: How can we welcome them with dignity if we ourselves are in the
precariousness.” They say they are not demanding “privileges,” but simply “the minimum consideration and support to be able to pursue our studies with dignity.”
Today, students from Matam in Thiès are making a solemn appeal not only to the regional authorities
from Matam, but also to all people of goodwill, sons and daughters of Matam, executives, elected officials, residents and partners, so that they may mobilize to "solve this problem together". Because, they take pains to remind everyone, "helping a student is investing in the future of Matam, and that future is us".

Les rappels de bourses qui étaient d'un seul coup depuis Senghor sont étalées sur plusieurs mois.
Il faut se pencher sur les problèmes sociaux et maintenir au moins l'existant pas de marche arrière on doit avancer avoir dautres avantages mais pas le contraire
