Crise universitaire : LA CNDH appelle à « l’apaisement » et au « dialogue constructif »

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) of Senegal says it is "gravely concerned" about the crisis shaking universities, particularly Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD), marked in recent days by "violent clashes between students and law enforcement".

In a statement released on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the CNDH (National Human Rights Commission) "calls for calm" and reiterates "the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere on university campuses." It urges all stakeholders to "prioritize dialogue to find the best way to resolve the crisis."

The institution calls on the authorities to adopt "peaceful measures" in managing the demands and to ensure the "physical and moral integrity" of the students, while encouraging them to express their grievances "peacefully in strict compliance with laws and regulations".

Recalling that "the right to education is a fundamental right", the CNDH reaffirms its willingness to contribute to any initiative of "mediation, listening and consultation" with a view to a quick and lasting solution.
