The Ministry of National Education and the National Gendarmerie have signed a unique partnership aimed at strengthening civic education and security culture within schools. The official signing ceremony took place at the Ousmane Tanor Dieng Ministerial Hall, under the co-chairmanship of General (2S) Birame Diop, Minister of the Armed Forces, and Moustapha Guirassy, Minister of National Education.

This memorandum of understanding, concluded for a period of three years, is an extension of the agreements already established between the Ministries of the Armed Forces and National Education. It marks a decisive step in the cooperation between the National Gendarmerie and the General Secretariat of the Ministry of National Education.

Youth at the heart of the system

The agreement aims to provide students with the tools they need to better understand and embody republican values. Key objectives include instilling civic-mindedness, a sense of defense, and a culture of security; strengthening the teaching skills of local teachers, Quranic masters, and trainers; organizing practical activities such as training in first aid and road safety; and establishing a national monitoring and evaluation system to ensure the quality and adaptability of actions on the ground.

A partnership for social peace

By combining the expertise of the National Gendarmerie with educational action, the two institutions intend to make a lasting contribution to the civic and patriotic education of young people. "This protocol is much more than a simple administrative agreement; it is a shared commitment to consolidate social peace and strengthen national security," an official emphasized during the meeting.

With this initiative, Senegal confirms its desire to invest in a youth that is aware, disciplined and prepared to meet the civic and security challenges of the present and future.
