Journées Sans Tickets au CROUS de Sine-Saloum : fermeture des restaurants de Kaolack et Kaffrine
Following the acts of violence and destruction that occurred during the 48-hour Ticketless Days (JST) called by the student coordination, the Regional Center for University Social Works of Sine-Saloum (CROUS-SS) announced on Wednesday, February 12, 2026, the closure of its restaurants, according to Seneweb sources.
In a statement signed by its director, Dr. Jean Birane Gning, the CROUS-SS informs the university community that its restaurants will remain closed until further notice, with the exception of those on the Fatick campus, where service continues normally for the time being.
This decision follows acts of sabotage, violence and destruction of equipment noted during breakfast service in the restaurants on the Kaolack and Kaffrine campuses.
The director of the CROUS-SS points out that these JSTs "further weaken its already limited financial resources and compromise the sustained efforts, made with the support of the technical and financial supervisory authority, to offer students a continuous, accessible and quality catering service".
While strongly condemning the acts of violence and destruction, Dr. Jean Birane Gning reaffirms the CROUS-SS's commitment to engaging in constructive dialogue. He encourages students to prioritize consultation and mutual listening in order to find lasting solutions together in the best interests of the university community.
