Kédougou : le G7 durcit le ton face au gouvernement et maintient la pression.
Social tensions remain high in the Kédougou region. Meeting in a general assembly this morning, the G7 coordinators reaffirmed their determination to continue the fight for their demands. Faced with salary cuts for some workers, union leaders are taking a firm stance and denouncing the government's "delaying tactics."
"Our platform of demands has not changed."
During their general assembly, the coordinators were keen to clarify their position. "Our platform of demands has not changed. We remain committed to the points we have submitted from the beginning. Nothing has been resolved on the substance," declared Mr. Daffé, one of the G7 spokespeople, to applause from the participants.
According to him, the discussions held with the authorities have not led to any concrete progress. "We feel that the government is playing for time. It is stalling. However, the workers are waiting for specific answers and clear commitments," he insisted.
Wage cuts, an "ineffective means of exerting pressure"
Despite the salary deductions made to some members, the movement's leaders insist they will not waver. "These cuts do not shake us in the slightest. They will only strengthen our resolve," stated Sette Sané SGR SAEMS.
For several participants, these financial sanctions are an attempt to discourage them. "They want to weaken us economically to break the momentum. But the struggle continues," insisted a teacher present at the general assembly.
Within the ranks, some agents acknowledge the difficulties caused by these deductions. "It's hard for our families, but we believe it's a necessary sacrifice to achieve lasting improvements," confides one participant.
Call for mobilization and awareness
Beyond their stated resolve, the G7 coordinators issued a call for unity. They invited their still-skeptical colleagues to join the movement. "We need to raise awareness among our comrades who are still hesitant. Unity is our greatest strength," emphasized a union official.
Information tours and meetings in establishments and services are announced in the coming days in order to consolidate the mobilization.
A tense social climate in Kédougou
This latest G7 summit comes amid a social climate already marked by several protests in various sectors in Kédougou. Workers are demanding, in particular, better working conditions and that the commitments made by the authorities be honored.
For now, no new official meeting has been announced between G7 representatives and the government. But the coordinators' message is clear: without concrete progress, the mobilization will continue.
"We remain open to dialogue, but a sincere and solution-oriented dialogue. In the meantime, the struggle continues," concluded a member of the board to enthusiastic applause from the assembly.
