LA CEDEAO DOTE L’UFR SEFS DE L’UGB D’UN IMPORTANT MATERIEL DE THERAPIE
Gaston Berger University (UGB) in Saint-Louis has received a significant donation of therapy equipment from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). This donation, intended for the mental health unit of the Faculty of Education, Training and Sport Sciences (SEFS), aims to strengthen the technical and human capacities of this pioneering institution in Senegal and the sub-region.
The ECOWAS resident representative in Senegal, Zelma Fassinou Nobre, recalled that this gesture is part of the continuation of actions in favor of the promotion of mental health.
“Last October, we were at UGB for International Mental Health Day. Today, we are taking action with concrete support,” she said, also highlighting the importance of the role of the Badianou Gox, these community women leaders involved in psychosocial support.
For his part, Professor Mamadou Abdoul Diop, Vice-Rector in charge of research and partnership, welcomed the support of ECOWAS and recalled that UGB was the first West African university to establish a mental health unit.
"This issue will remain at the heart of our next strategic plan," he assured.
This partnership reflects the shared desire to make mental health more accessible through an integrated approach combining training, research and community engagement.
