Non-respect des accords signés par le gouvernement : Menaces et alertes des enseignants du SAEMS
Teachers are warning about the problems in the education sector, which are still being put on hold by the government.
"Nothing guarantees stability for the next school year. We are warning the government and preparing for the fight," El Malick Youm, secretary general of the Autonomous Union of Secondary School Teachers (SAEMS), told Sud FM.
Before continuing: "We are a month away from the start of the school year and the government has still not respected the agreements reached with the unions."
"Since the end of the school year, we have asked the government to use the holidays to resolve issues in the education sector, including statutory issues, the issue of decision-makers, which is only waiting for the decree to be signed, but also issues related to the implementation of agreements signed since 2022," explained Mr. Youm.
The latter indicated that the issue of actions has increased in the management of teachers' careers. "This is unacceptable to us," he said.
He also pointed out that since its establishment, the government has not completed the process of correcting the teachers' remuneration system and has remained subtle to the unions' questions.
"If the government does not resolve these issues, the unions will be on a war footing as soon as classes open," he warns.
"We will not accept that the education sector is relegated to the background," he concluded.
