Port obligatoire de l’uniforme scolaire : « Il y a un décret en gestation » (Ministre)
Wearing a uniform will soon be mandatory in Senegalese schools. The announcement was made yesterday, Tuesday, by the Minister of National Education, Moustapha Guirassy, during a field visit ahead of the next school year. "A decree is in preparation to make the wearing of this uniform mandatory," he announced.
According to the authority taken over by APS.sn, the decree will come into force "by next year."
"With what we are doing in terms of restructuring and reform, we believe that by next year there will be a decree that will make the wearing of uniforms mandatory," he rewinds.
During this visit to the HLM4 and El Hadji Ibrahima Diop Youssouf elementary schools, formerly Clémenceau (Plateau), the Minister of National Education claims to have detected "some problems" related to the school environment, a few weeks before the start of the school year. These are particularly related to infrastructure, canteen services, and other security challenges.
"Many children ultimately drop out of school, simply because they are not in the right conditions for learning. When we talk about the school environment, it's not just about the buildings, but about the whole, the safety, the social climate. It's really the child's well-being that must be at the heart of our concerns," the minister emphasizes.
