Trump: «Il ne faut pas avoir des armes» à des manifestations
The US president described the death of Alex Pretti, killed by federal agents, as "very sad".
Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, whose departure the opposition is demanding, would remain in place, judging that she was doing "a very good job".
"No," the US president replied to a journalist who asked him if Kristi Noem was going to leave her post.
He also described the death of the American citizen killed Saturday by federal agents in Minneapolis as "very sad," adding that one should not participate in a demonstration "with a weapon."
Trump refused to adopt the term "assassin" used by his advisor Stephen Miller to describe the man killed by ICE agents. He did, however, state that the man should not have been carrying a weapon during a protest.
"No," said the American president, when asked by reporters if the victim, Alex Pretti, had behaved like an "assassin," before adding: "That being said, you shouldn't have guns, show up with a gun, you shouldn't do that, but it's a very unfortunate incident."
Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse, was carrying a pistol on Saturday, which some US officials used to defend the actions of federal agents, prompting protests from representatives of the pro-gun lobby.
